Welcome back! We hope you all had a well-deserved break following the hustle and bustle of the High Season at the end of last year.
Please give yourselves a pat on the back because 2018 was a great year for tourism in Cape Town. We saw a 9.4% increase in international visitors despite the drought, tough economy and decline in domestic travel.
Let’s also not forget the notable accolades 2018 brought us, including being voted the number one City in Africa and the Middle East by Travel and Leisure, Forbes ranking Kalk Bay as the coolest suburb in the world and Cape Town International Airport’s acknowledgement as Africa’s Leading Airport of 2018.
Thank you so much for your continuous efforts and contributions to this wonderful city – you have earned it!
Our biggest New Year’s resolution for 2019 is transformation which is all about learning, improving and changing for the better. One of our main focuses for 2019 is to help empower tourism SMME’s through our various business support interventions.
We will provide more detailed information on these programs in future newsletters.
We wish you all a prosperous and exciting 2019 ahead. May this year be filled with opportunities, successes and, most importantly, many more adventures together as we continue to transform Cape Town.
