MEET THE NEW KID ON THE (FORESHORE) BLOCK, HOTEL SKY CAPE TOWN

Posted in Members News

Located on the Cape Town foreshore, the iconic red outline of Hotel Sky has already entrenched its position in the Cape Town skyline and become a major talking point across the city.

Following the opening of Hotel Sky Sandton in late 2020 – an event that was lauded as the most anticipated hotel opening of 2020 by one of South Africa’s major publications – Hotel Sky Cape Town is generating an equal amount of excitement due to the hotel’s incredible facilities and cutting-edge tech.

Hotel Sky Cape Town is the vision of veteran hotelier Paul Kelley, and takes the form of a 28-storey high rise across the road the Cape Town ICC’s main entrance. The massive high-rise building already elevates Hotel Sky Cape Town into a whole new realm, with almost every room offering incredible views of Cape Town.

“One of our primary goals with Hotel Sky is to build hotels in central locations, and then offer leisure and business travellers alike an unsurpassed experience at affordable prices,” says Kelley. “Hotel Sky Cape Town is our second establishment, and when we found a prime location in the heart of the City Bowl and in such an iconic building, we set ourselves the goal of embellishing on this base to offer a travel experience like no other.”

As at Hotel Sky Sandton, the Cape Town edition will be fitted with cutting edge technology to enhance and optimise guests’ experiences. Some of this tech includes contactless booking, check-in and room access via the Hotel Sky app, and AI-powered robots that will supplement and support the large workforce being employed by the hotel, enhancing guest relations through assistance with luggage and room service delivery.

The hotel includes many amenities, including a gym, pools on the 17th and 20th floors, and several restaurants and bars – including the Infinity Restaurant on the 26th floor. The most exciting feature, however, is the luxurious Sky on Long event space located on the 27th floor, highlighted by floor to ceiling glass windows offering unsurpassed panoramic views across Cape Town.

“Many of the world’s most iconic cities – London, New York, Madrid, Hong Kong, Stockholm – have Sky Bars,” says Kelley, “glass bars at the top of iconic buildings that offer locals and tourists alike incredible views of these cities. And yet Cape Town, the most beautiful city in the world, did not. The second we walked onto the top floor and saw the views, we knew what we had to do.”

Hotel Sky Cape Town opened its doors to guests on 1 April 2021.

Hotel Sky is the ideal destination for corporate and leisure travelers alike, offering an unsurpassed experience at affordable prices in centrally-located hotels.
