Groot Constantia is celebrating 335 years of uninterrupted wine production, and as the oldest wine-producing farm in South Africa, has witnessed and survived many historical challenges. The Estate is a Provincial heritage site and a living, working, museum with history woven into its fabric. From the moment visitors enter the Manor House at the start of their Visitors Route Experience they are transported back in time. Visitors love the chance to explore the Cloete Cellar, which is the birthplace of Grand Constance, the true “Constantia Wyn” of Napoleon. Wide open spaces, two restaurants, walkways, and vineyards to explore, are just a few things to expect. All of this within 20 minutes of Cape Town’s CBD.
As a testimony of how people and businesses can adapt and survive – indeed thrive – after periods of crisis, the Estate’s message is to have patience and faith that we will overcome this current COVID-19 crisis.
